These were the men and women of all races that worshiped the Mute in the First Age, or feared the change war and rebellion would bring. They fought alongside the Mute in the Great War, and defended the Mute with their lives after the Great Sundering of the Minds. They have earned the undying ire of Taeloc, the pity of Calekith and they curse both their names to this day.
After the Paladins of Taeloc had cleared Tasmyrul of Mute, and made their great Hives into great mounds of rubble, the Dark Eyes were listless without a cause. Many abandoned the way to live humble lives abroad, but the few that remained believed fervently that their masters would one day rise again to power, and reward their faithfulness. Officially a small cult, they would devote their time on developing telepathic abilities in the hopes that when their masters did returned, that they would have developed their abilities enough to hear the whisperings of the Mutes thoughts, much like the Atmika had described. Individuals who showed themselves gifted were paired with other gifted members of the opposite sex, and those who were inferior were quietly phased out and done away with. After many generations of underground worship, these cultists can confidently boast of some powerful psionists. They also did not put abducting individuals of strong psionic promise below them, often staging their deaths, or wiping the minds of the abducted and their families from memory.
